Holiday Jobs in Oklahoma City 2026: What Amazon, UPS and Macy's Are Offering

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The holiday hiring season is here, and in the Oklahoma City metro it looks lopsided. Amazon says it is hiring more than 300,000 people nationwide, its biggest holiday push on record. UPS is hiring too, but fewer than last year. And most big retailers have not posted a number at all. If you want seasonal work in OKC this year, warehouses and package sorting are where the volume is, and the window to get in before Thanksgiving is the next few weeks.

Amazon is hiring big, UPS is hiring smaller, and Macy's has one hiring day left. Here is what each one has said, what it pays, and where to apply in OKC.

📦 Amazon: The Biggest Number on the Board

Amazon announced on October 20 that it plans to hire more than 300,000 people across its U.S. operations network for seasonal, part-time and full-time roles, up about 20% from last year. In its hiring announcement, the company says seasonal workers average about $20 an hour, and full-time operations jobs start at $20 an hour or more.

In Oklahoma City, the anchor is Amazon's robotics fulfillment center on S. Portland Avenue near Will Rogers World Airport, open since 2019. Amazon has not said how many of those jobs land here.

One detail worth knowing: starting January 1, 2027, seasonal employees working at least 30 hours a week qualify for health coverage from day one. That does not cover this peak season, but if you are still in a qualifying role on New Year's Day, coverage starts then. Amazon says new roles post weekly through December at hiring.amazon.com.

🚚 UPS: Hiring, Just Fewer Hands

UPS told Reuters in early October it would hire 100,000 seasonal workers across the country to sort, move and deliver packages. That is down from about 110,000 last year and 125,000 in 2024. The company is shrinking its Amazon volume and said in January it would cut up to 30,000 operational jobs this year. UPS has not published a pay rate for seasonal work or a local headcount.

If you want a permanent job out of it, say so in the interview.

🛍️ Retail: Macy's Has One Day Left, Others Are Quiet

Macy's last national hiring day is Thursday, November 19, and the only Macy's in the metro is at Penn Square Mall on Northwest Expressway. Event hours vary by store, so call (405) 841-2800 first. Our Macy's hiring day guide has the full details.

Target and Walmart have not announced national holiday hiring goals this year. Walmart posts seasonal openings store by store, so the move is to check the stores closest to you, from Memorial Road to the Moore and Midwest City corridors, instead of waiting for a big announcement.

💵 What the Pay Really Looks Like

Don't judge holiday work by the legal minimum; competition for warehouse hands sets the real rate. Amazon's own figures put seasonal pay around $20 an hour. Retail postings vary, so read each range before you apply, and ask about overtime during peak weeks.
